| Last Spring (2009) I built my own backyard observatory. Cost was a big factor, so I had to make this in the least expensive way possible. I started with 3 4x8' pallets, and one 4x4' pallet for the lower portion and support. I leveled the ground with gravel, and lag-bolted the bottom frame together. I then cemented the corner posts in, and made the rails and upper section. So as of now, it's functional, and keeps the equipment protected well. I have a good 360º view of the sky as well. I'm still not done, but now I can do a little at a time and concentrate on the fun of Observing and Astrophotography. |
